Our client is an international leader in cancer treatment, research, prevention, education and community outreach. It is the only cancer center in Missouri and within a 240-mile radius of St. Louis to hold the prestigious Comprehensive Cancer Center designation from the National Cancer Institute and membership in the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. The parent institutions also are nationally recognized, with U.S.News & World Report consistently ranking the hospital and medical school among the nation's elite. This is a 38 bed unit that provides care to oncology patients who are hospitalized for cancer treatment and symptom management, including support for immunosuppression and/or neutropenia. The care is moderate to high acuity. Care includes high complexity interventions serving patients on both the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Oncology services. The presence of two services provides broad oncology experiences for the nurse. Care is coordinated by a multidisciplinary team including oncology nurses, advanced practice nurses, case managers, coordinators, social workers, spiritual care, pharmacy and psycho-social support. Professional nursing growth and development are expected, encouraged and supported by the Oncology Nursing Fellowship Program for new graduate nurses, the Professional Nurse Development Program (PNDP), the Oncology Nursing Society¿s (ONS) Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course, and educational preparation for the Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) program.


Responsible for the operational and clinical management of a designated patient care unit(s) on a 24 hour basis. Oversees a span of control and financial responsibility of > 72 FTE's supervised + > $2.5 million in total expenses OR > 40 FTE's supervised + > $5 million in total expenses.

Job Requirements


Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
Directs the delivery of safe and appropriate patient care governed by evidence based clinical and management practice.
Ensures team compliance with departmental policies, regulatory requirements and professional standards; keeps policies and procedures up-to-date and participates in revisions as needed.
Promotes, and is accountable for customer satisfaction, process indicators, quality improvement plans and outcomes in work unit.
Researches, evaluates, selects and implements systems which improve efficiency of work unit operations.
Supports and assists the growth of existing or new business/programs.

Minimum Requirements


BSN Bachelors of Nursing required
2-5 years Nursing experience Oncololgy experience preferred not required.
Supervisor Experience

2 years
Licenses & Certifications

RN in the state of Missouri or eligible
