Job Description

Director of Human Resources Director of HR

This position is located in or around Akron, OH

  • Through the direction of human resource staff at the location, the position originates and leads human resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture emphasizing empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and training & development of a superior workforce. 
  • Advises company managers about Human Resources issues. 
  • Direct compensation function. 
Essential Job Functions: 
  • Direct corporate human resources operations leading, planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing staff job contributions. 
  • Implement human resources strategies by establishing department accountabilities, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing and orientation, records management, succession planning, employee relations and retention, and AA/EEO compliance.
  • Lead efforts in the training and development function for staff and periodically on a global basis.
  • Direct global compensation function, to include driving wage and salary proposals, MSR administration, SIP administration, and other payroll/HRIS duties. 
  • Acts a departmental and Process Management liaison to the HRIS organization.
    Support management by providing human resource advice, counsel, and decisions; analyzing information and applications.
  • Makes recommendations to organization strategic human resource thinking and direction. 
  • Establishes human resources objectives in line with organizational objectives/initiatives.
  • Guide management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organization values.
  • Assist with development of corporate human resources operations financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements for corporate human resource budget.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in conferences and educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.  
  • Plays an active role in corporate community relations.
  • Lead development and implementation of corporate performance management and performance improvement systems.

Education / Experience Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resources, psychology, etc. 
  • Masters Degree in Business strongly preferred.

  • Leadership, hiring/staffing/retention experience, training and development, fosters teamwork, relationship builder, generalist human resource management

Supervisory Requirements: 

  • Directs staff of Manager, Training and Development, Human Resource Generalist, Recruitment/EEO Coordinator, and administrative staff to include receptionists in the Main Office and Emerson Innovation Center.

Work Environment / Conditions: 

  • Office environment, occasionally the flow lab and other labs in the Emerson Innovation Center.
